How do I mount my road bike handlebars?

You've just received your new handlebars ? Assembling it is relatively simple. Here's how.

  • Time: 15 min
  • Level : Easy
  • Tools : Allen key set | Torque wrench

Steps

  1. Undo the screws on the stem.
  2. Place the handlebars on the stem.
    Probikeshop tip: If the handlebars or stem are made of carbon, we recommend using assembly paste on the contact between these two parts to reduce the torque required and thus avoid damaging them.

  3. Start tightening the stem bolts evenly. 

  4. Tighten the stem bolts evenly and crosswise.
    Probikeshop tip: Veep to the tightening torque indicated by the manufacturer, especially for carbon handlebars, otherwise you risk crushing them.

Now your handlebars are in place, all you need to do is fit the other components and adjust your position. After your first ride, check that the handlebars are tight.
