How do I maintain my road bike cassette?

Steps

  1. Run the cassette with a water jet.
  2. Apply degreaser then brush the cassette, insisting on brushing between the sprockets.
  3. Rinse under running water.

Once dry, lubricate your transmission. For cassettes with detachable sprockets (i.e. not monobloc cassettes), it's advisable to disassemble the cassette from time to time, especially if you ride regularly, for a thorough cleaning.
