How to fit road bike brake pads?

Whether your pads are cartridge or classic, fitting them is relatively simple. Here's how.

Steps

Please note that brake pads have an assembly direction which can be easily identified by the letter L for Left or R for Right indicated directly on them.

  1. Fit the new brake pads brake pads in the correct direction.

  2. Apply the brake lightly, then position the brake pad correctly so that it is aligned with the rim.

  3. Lightly tighten the fixing screw.
