Here's how to assemble a BSC screw-in bottom bracket with external bearing, one of the most widespread standards in the MOUNTAIN BIKES.
- Time : 30 min
- Level : Medium
- Tools : External bottom bracket wrench | Wire brush | Grease
Steps
- Brush the bottom bracket of your frame to remove any filings or burrs caused by machining.
- Grease the mountain bike frame and bottom bracket threads.
- Turn the right-hand part of the bottom bracket anticlockwise by hand. Finish tightening with the bottom bracket wrench.
Probikeshop tip The thread is very fine, so use the housing wrench only when you are sure that the housing is properly engaged.
- Then screw the left-hand part of the housing clockwise by hand, and use the housing wrench for final tightening.
Now all you have to do is mount your crankset.
