Suspension seatposts feature an elastomer damping system that allows them to absorb minor impacts and filter out some vibrations without generating too much of a bobbing effect.

This device is very useful for a rider suffering from back pain on a hardtail MTB, or for the rear rider of a tandem who cannot necessarily see everything coming up ahead.
