Why install a suspended seatpost?

Visit suspended seatposts (not to be confused with telescopic models) have a simple damping system that can bring you benefits. Here's what they can do for you MTB.

Suspended seatposts feature an elastomer damping system that absorbs light impacts and filters out some of the vibrations without generating too much pumping.

This is a very useful feature for a rider suffering from back pain on a semi-rigid mountain bike, or for the rear rider of a tandem who can't necessarily see everything coming in front of him.
