Lapping is an important step when your MTB brake pads or discs need replacing. Unfortunately, this is all too often neglected, to the detriment of brake performance. Vibrations or squeaking can occur if this operation is poorly performed.

Stages
Reminder: a disc lapped with a certain type of gasket will only be compatible with that type until it is replaced.
- Carry out a series of 20 contained brake applications, going from 20 to 5 km/h. It's important not to stop between two brake applications, to ensure proper ventilation. the MTB disc disc and caliper.
- Then stop and let your brake cool for 15 minutes.

- Now perform a series of 10 harder braking maneuvers, without stopping dead in your tracks, from 30 to 5 kph. It's important not to stop in between braking to ventilate the disc and caliper.
- Move on to the other brake, repeating steps 1 to 3.
