"To replace an old Raceface 3-ring crankset with this one (to gain some ground clearance and make better use of the 9-speed cassette on my old but still trusty 2010 Commencal. Lightweight, perfect with its Gard tires for tackling fallen tree trunks. The only downside—hence the 4 stars—is the price!"

"As a replacement for the SRAM crankset from the same series whose chainrings had seen better days... which are hard to find on retailer websites (I didn’t keep a close enough eye on the wear and tear of the drivetrain over these three years of riding—my bad...). So the product lives up to the brand’s quality standards; this model isn’t super lightweight, but the chainring shifts are precise, quiet, and smooth, and the whole thing feels solid (which, for me, takes precedence over a component’s lightness), the alloy bashguard (a first for me and not a deal-breaker) is high-quality and doesn’t detract from the product’s aesthetics. What you need to know: the small chainring is made of... steel—the advantage being that it wears down more slowly than basic aluminum. On the practical mechanical side, the clamping nut also serves as a crank arm driver (as previously mentioned, do your research and be careful with the tools you use so as not to damage the Allen key slots and/or the threads; once you get the hang of it, you’ll find this aspect quite practical)"

"Bought to replace the crankset on a friend's bike; seems like good quality. The screw used to tighten and loosen is a plus—no need for a special tool to remove the crankset. However, unlike Shimano, which provides instructions in multiple languages, Sram includes nothing but the warranty information. I bought the GXP bottom bracket that went with the crankset; instructions would have been helpful for installing the shims on the bottom bracket shell—as it is, it’s a bit of a guess."
