Description
FINISH LINE Chill Zone™ is no ordinary degreaser. It's a "thermal shock" solution designed to unlock the most seized, rusted or corroded bike parts (seatposts, bottom brackets, cleat screws).
By spraying the product, it creates a brutal temperature drop of up to -45°C. This intense cold causes micro-contraction of the metal, creating micro-cracks in the rust and corrosion. An ultra-fluid penetrating agent is then instantly inserted into these breaches to free the threads. This is often the tool of last resort before drilling or cutting a part.
How long should I spray? For best results, spray directly onto the workpiece for 10 to 20 seconds continuously. The formation of white frost is a sign that the thermal shock is at its maximum.
Should I wait before trying to unscrew? Yes. After spraying, wait 2 to 3 minutes to let the penetrating agent seep into the micro-cracks created by the cold.
Is it effective on carbon? The product is designed for metal. On a carbon/carbon interface (such as a seatpost), seizure is often due to a different chemical reaction. Chill Zone is especially miraculous on oxidized metal/metal interfaces.
